Emma began playing the piano and composing with Philippa Rose at the age of 5, publicly performing early compositions just 6 months later, and by age 10 had works performed by local orchestras and was invited to perform at the Royal Academy of Music. A year later she was a prizewinner of the EPTA UK Composers’ Competition. She began her professional studies as a pianist however, at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, Tel Aviv, with Natasha Tadson, fuelling an interest in Jewish and Eastern music. This has continued in her exploration of contemporary music and own compositions, playing with Eastern and Western traditions.
At Trinity Laban Conservatoire she was an Alfred Kitchin Scholar and beneficiary of the Trinity College London Scholarship and the Jimmie Cross Prize Fund, and was awarded the TCM Trust Silver Medal Award. Emma is now continuing her studies with John Thwaites and Mikhail Kazakevich.
